Using the time travel feature, operators can visualize their future capacity needs and analyze the impact of upcoming deployments on data center resources
Datacenter Clarity LC’s latest Forecasting engine allows data center operators to track resource consumption and space usage in the past, present, and future. To do this, the datacenter is sub-divided into sections, called footprints, that are each reserved for a specific purpose and assigned a maximum resource consumption. This allows for accurate expansion planning and enables operators to ensure that resource provision is always commensurate to the demand of the users.
Using the time travel feature, operators can visualize their future capacity needs and analyze the impact of upcoming deployments on data center resources. In addition, colocation data center operators will benefit from the ability to reserve space for particular users and then leverage forecasted data to visualize the evolution of their datacenter.
Forecasting has the following benefits:
- More accurate expansion planning
- Predict when installed capacity will not be sufficient and maximize capacity usage

- Tracking of planned vs installed capacity (space, power, current, cooling, etc.)

Real Time Temperature Monitoring is critical to ensure we meet our SLA (service level agreement) commitments and also to help us better manage our thermal environment for optimal efficiency. DC Clarity has enabled us to automate this monitoring with a high level of granularity at the cabinet level, and has thus minimized our manual temperature monitoring efforts that were previously used to monitor the cold aisle environment. This translates to our operations employees having more time to focus on customer needs without having to spend a portion of their time conducting daily temperature walkthroughs to monitor and optimize the cold aisle thermal environment.
